Michelle Hold is a German painter currently based near Milan, Italy. Her often large-scale abstract paintings are explorations of space, movement and freedom, where she captures the essence of feelings and the invisible energy that pervades the universe. Her paintings are expressive works of art full of energy and life.
Hold’s artistic career consists of a multitude of significant turning points - she studied architecture in Austria, was a successful fashion model in Paris and New York, studied textile design in London, subsequently working actively in Milan before finding her feet in abstract painting. Each experience has added a new dimension to her paintings, which embody the structured layering of architecture and a trained understanding of the minute differences in color hues.
Color radiates and vibrates in Hold’s canvases; it is an essential element that stimulates her creation. In a free and dynamic manner, she builds and creates mesmerizing layers in her paintings with great spontaneity, ignoring the representation of concrete objects in favor of intangible meanings and feelings.
Michelle Hold has exhibited extensively throughout Europe and the US. Her work is today housed in numerous private collections. She founded a collective of international artists, ArtMoleto, who exhibit in public institutions throughout Europe.
